At some point everyone experiences a difficult time in their life. Sometimes those difficulties come in the form of financial struggles. At the Y we believe that taking care of your health, helping your children to develop, and connecting to your community is too important to take a backseat during difficult financial times. Because of this belief we provide Financial Assistance. Our Financial Assistance program can help you lower your fees for programs or services while you work to stabilize your situation.
To find out if you are able to benefit from this program contact your local YMCA branch to complete a Financial Assistance Questionnaire. After review of your questionnaire, a Financial Aid Specialist will schedule you for an appointment to discuss your individual needs. Some form of written documentation of need must be provided by the applicant at the time of the interview and will be explained to you at the time of your inquiry.
Our Financial Assistance program is made possible through the generous donations of members, community members, and local businesses. Donations are collected through the hard work and dedication of hundreds of YMCA staff and volunteers. The support we receive is invaluable at helping us impact the lives of our members. However, our resources are limited. Within the donated funds available the Y will provide services for any youth, senior, or adult wanting to participate and who understands the benefits of the YMCA.
Eligible applicants will:
· Work or reside in the YMCA service area.
· Be experiencing financial challenges that may result from low income, loss of job, hospital expenses, etc.
· Be required to pay a portion of the fees. The YMCA believes a strong sense of ownership and pride is developed if the financial assistance recipient has contributed to the cost of their YMCA involvement.
Requirement and Limitations:
· Assistance request that fall outside of our regular guidelines will be reviewed by a committee of volunteers. This will require the applicant to write a letter to the committee describing their situation.
· Financial Assistance can be granted for one session of a program such as residence camp, one year of child care, or for up to one year's membership.
· Financial assistance awards may be reviewed every 4 months. A reapplication is required on a year-to-year decision making basis.
· Applicants must complete all standard YMCA program enrollment forms.
· The YMCA will grant financial aid to the extent that funds are available.
