Iowa Military members were home for the holidays this year because it was Oklahoma's turn to be deployed. "The kids just wanted to share a hug with the kids in Oklahoma since this is their turn to be deployed," says Sue Johnson, director of our Y's Military Reconnect Program.
Showing care and social responsibility, children from the Ankeny Y reached out to fellow military families, like Wyatt's. He and his 3 siblings missed their dad during the holidays, as he's deployed in Afghanistan.
Children from our own Greater Des Moines Y helped make this joyful hug happen.
