It's not every day that a gym or fitness center receives praise about it's crucial role in the community. Thanks to Connie Cook, a long-time member of the Y, our Riverfront branch received just that today.
Her Letter to the Editor in the Des Moines Register today portrayed a beautifully accurate portrait of the Riverfront Y. We serve a diverse community — from families in need of financial assistance to working people squeezing in a quick workout on a lunch break.
We'd like to clarify, though, that the Riverfront Y will NOT be closing. In fact, we're exploring exciting renovations to the location in order to cultivate the community Connie so accurately portrays.
"I love listening to the variety of languages being spoken and seeing whole families coming there together. Brochures and announcements are printed in several languages. Exercise classes and pickup games are filled with businessmen and women as well as teenagers, seniors and all ages in between. It is a welcoming atmosphere to everyone." — Connie Cook's Letter to the Editor
Again, thank you, Connie for being a part of our Y family and for making your voice heard in the community.
