At the Y were are continuously monitoring the COVID-19 news and information. The CDC and local government leaders have advised our community to practice “social distancing.” The physical contact requirements of the lifeguard programs do not allow for participants to maintain the recommended 6ft distance from other participants.
The Y has decided to temporarily suspend Lifeguard training. This includes the following classes:
April 3-5 New Certification
April 4 Lifeguard Instructor Review
April 10-11 Review Certification
April 18 Lifeguard Instructor Review
April 18, 25-26 Lifeguard Instructor Certification
We will work with participants on transferring to other course offerings when we are able to resume training. For participants that have already completed the online pre-requisites, that completion record is valid for any lifeguard class over the next 3 months. At this time, we are exploring additional class offerings but will not be putting that information out until we are confident we can safely resume training.
For participants who are renewing their existing lifeguard certification, Red Cross has agreed to put out a provisional extension to your certification. To qualify, you will need to email me back with your full name, email, and the date your current certification expires. I will process your extension for you close to your expiration date.
Please email all refund requests, registration change requests, and any questions regarding lifeguard training to firstname.lastname@example.org and I will reply as soon as the YMCA resumes operations. No changes in registration will take place prior to the Y resuming operations.
