May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a celebration of the diverse Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities across the U.S. Encourage kids to develop an appreciation of our nation’s diversity – and a love of reading – by incorporating books about AAPI communities and cultural traditions into their summer reading lists. Here are just a few suggestions from the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA):
For Young Adults: P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han (Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers)
For Children: Full Cicada Moon by Marilyn Hilton (Dial Books/Penguin Random House)
Picture Book: Juna’s Jar by Jane Bahk, illustrated by Felicia Hoshino (Lee & Low Books)
