Excitement for fitness is at an all-time high during the beginning of each year. Most of us have personal goals to be healthier in spirit, mind, and body than we were last year. But whether it’s hitting a plateau, soreness, or wondering what to do at the gym, many of us fall off and struggle to get back on track without any guidance or support.
Certified personal trainers, like the ones we have at the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, are here to help with your new year’s goals. Through their nationally accredited certifications, our trainers are prepared with tools to help you succeed in and out of the gym throughout the New Year.
Keeping it fresh. New and challenging workouts help keep you motivated and wanting to come back, because too many times boredom and stagnant workouts will lead us to close up shop and lose sight of our goals. Instead of doing the same things over and over, a trainer will introduce new exercises, equipment, and classes safely.
Safe gains. Safely exercising and avoiding any sort of injury or setbacks is key in being successful at accomplishing your goals. It’s easy to get into a position where an incorrect form on an exercise can compromise your goals or, more importantly, your overall health. Your personal trainer will teach you how to properly and safely do all the exercises in a way that will benefit and progress you.
Eye on the prize. Our trainers want to help you hone in on your goals. They want you to reach goals that are S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-oriented). These types of goals will help you and your personal trainer team up to create a roadmap to your success.
Accountability. We all come across barriers and conflicts outside of our workout time that may derail our goals, but a trainer will coach you on how to stay on track. They’ll be there every step of the way and motivate you to keep pushing through the ups and downs of life. Partnering up with a personal trainer is to become part of a team and friendship that keeps you successful long past the New Year.
So what’s next?
If you are struggling with the “what’s next” in getting healthy, then maybe a trainer is your next step. Exercising is such an important aspect to overall health and it’s okay to invest in yourself and prioritize your health. Exercising is often something that needs a good support structure – our personal trainers want to see you reach your goals and offer the support you need throughout your healthy living journey! Let us be your support structure every step of the way.
