Providing your family with heart healthy treats this month can allow everyone in the home to embrace the Valentine's Day celebration with a whole new meaning: keeping our hearts happy and healthy. Make over a few of your family's favorite recipes with less salt and less saturated fat. A few changes might include: reducing the amount of processed foods (if it comes in a package, check out the food label), reducing the amount of high fat ingredients (cheese, cream, butter, meat, oil), reducing the serving size, substituting a lower fat food for the higher fat version (low-fat yogurt instead of full fat yogurt) and having more fruits and vegetables available.
