Indianola residents can get a sneak peek of the new Indianola YMCA on Saturday, Aug. 24.
The new facility, which will open Monday, Aug. 26, will be open for tours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24. Indianola YMCA staff members will be on hand to interact with community members, share general information about Y programs and conduct tours.
Memberships can also be purchased that day. As a community-based, non-profit organization, the Y is committed to being affordable to all. Memberships are based on an individual’s gross household income and are available in a variety of types including family, single, youth and seniors among others.
“The open house is a great opportunity for the Indianola community to experience how the Y is strengthening communities through providing access to a healthier lifestyle, investing in our youth and fostering the idea of social responsibility,” said Scott Kruthoff, executive director of the Indianola YMCA.
The 62,000-square-foot facility features a 25-yard competitive pool complete with diving area, a family pool, gymnasium, elevated walking track, racquetball court and wellness center. The wellness center includes a cardio fitness area, cycling studio, weight area and studio workout areas.
The Indianola YMCA is a collaborative effort between the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, the City of Indianola, Simpson College and the Indianola Community School District. The facility is located near the corner of Highway 65/69 and Hillcrest in Indianola.
Beginning Monday, Aug. 26, the Indianola YMCA will observe the following hours: Monday-Friday, 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
