Hot air balloons may appear to drift effortlessly across the sky, but Kenzie Blackford, 11, of Indianola knows better.
“It’s really neat how you put up a balloon,” she said, her face lighting up. “It looks really difficult — and it is. It’s really heavy.”
Blackford, the daughter of Andrew and April Blackford, was among 30 youths who took part in Flying High, an all-new balloon camp last week. The event was a collaboration among Indianola Parks and Recreation, the Indianola YMCA, the National Balloon Classic and the National Balloon Museum.
