The Waukee Family YMCA proudly provides classes within our wellness department for all ages! Check out our group exercise classes, which are a great way to build community and wellness accountability in a group setting and are included in your membership fees at no additional cost. In addition to classes, our wellness center is equipped with a full range of cardio equipment including treadmills, elliptical, Arc Trainers, bikes, row machines and AMTs. We offer weight machine circuits; Freemotion and Strive and an extensive free weight room.
At the Waukee YMCA we want you to be successful on your wellness journey. To aid in this, we offer all of our members a free ActivTrax appointment. ActivTrax is for our members who want support to reach healthy living goals. Whether you want to jump start your healthy living journey or you need an extra boost to your current routine, this is for you!
You will meet one-on-one with a trained Wellness Coach to assist you getting set up for ActivTrax. At your first meeting your coach’s priority is to listen to your story and get your baseline data for the program. You’ll have an opportunity to get measurements taken (if you desire), perform a strength test, and have your program set up and tailored for your first workout. Best of all, this program is free for Y members and you will be connected with a coach to help get you started and establish your routine.
Within ActivTrax, there are many options. You can use it as a strength training program, a cardio tracker, or as a nutrition log. You may also participate in monthly challenges to win some awesome prizes.

Group Exercise Classes
The YMCA offers many classes to help support you in your pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. Zumba, Yoga, Barre, Pilates, Cycling, BodyPump, & Heat are just some of the classes we offer. In addition to the dozens of classes offered each week at the Waukee YMCA, hundreds of classes are accessible to you at our metro locations. Group Exercise classes are included in your member fees. Anyone 14 years of age or older may participate in classes. Youth ages 8-13 must participate with an adult.
We all have different goals and needs. Sometimes the expertise of a fitness professional is needed to help with program plan development, motivation, or accountability. All Y Personal Trainers are nationally certified and trained to help you meet your fitness goals with an individualized exercise prescription and coaching. Your first session will involve a fitness assessment, consultation, and program design to make sure that you are getting what you want and need from your trainer.
This is a fun, new concept at the Y! Do you have a group of 5 friends that you would like to work out with? Let us know, and we will find a Certified Trainer for you that works for your schedule. Enjoy a small group personal training setting with encouragement and motivation to ensure your success on your terms. TRX Suspension Training
TRX is a small group setting using suspension training to build true functional strength and improve flexibility, balance and core stability.
Warrior Fit is a fast-paced, challenging workout. Based on High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Warrior Fit will definitely spice up your workout and give you that challenge you have been waiting for! Join us in Warrior Fit for a variety of workouts that will keep you on your toes and your body guessing.
Women On Weights
Ladies, join this group and you can overcome any barriers you may have about working out in the free weight room. Your Certified Trainer will teach you the correct way to use the equipment in our wellness center and will also create a different workout for you and your small group each class. The workouts are designed to build muscular strength and endurance while giving you a total body workout.
