“I cannot stop now. I want to continue improving my English, have a career, and enjoy my time with my family. At my age I’m still young… I can do this!”
Miguel has been a resident of the YMCA Supportive Campus for one year. He saw a YSHC pamphlet out in the community and decided this would be a beneficial place for him to live and continue working on his goals.
Miguel always has a kind smile and uplifting words. He is a terrific volunteer in the kitchen and we are always very grateful for his knowledge and support in the volunteer program. Miguel successfully completed his Hi-SET and graduated in June 2018. Miguel has enrolled in DMACC ESL classes and strives every day to be a positive, productive member of our community.
Miguel recently returned to Colorado to visit his children which brought him joy and connection. Miguel says, “I go to work, I attend school, I study, and I come home here every day.”
Miguel told us, “I needed the YSHC, having no family to support me here it has been a safe haven. I have my own apartment and I like it because I can study, I can sleep, and it feels so nice to have my own space.” He shared that he doesn’t know where he would be living without the Y. “I cannot stop now. I want to continue improving my English, have a career, and enjoy my time with my family. At my age I’m still young… I can do this!”
