We're excited to introduce you to one of our great Walnut Creek Family YMCA volunteers: Charlie! You may see him around the Y on Mondays afternoons from 12-3 p.m. He mainly helps us by keeping our facilities clean and our towels stocked! He's always willing to help with whatever needs to be done. Thank you for your volunteer spirit, Charlie!
How long have you been involved with the Y? I've volunteered at Walnut Creek for all of Summer 2017 and I helped again this year in May. My family and I have been members of the Y for several years.
What motivated you to become a volunteer? I love the mission of the Y.
What activities do you and your family participate in at the Y? I really like water aerobics and we actually do that together as a family!
Who have you met at the Y that has made an impact on you? Marilyn, who's one of the Welcome Center Staff! Her sense of humor and zest for life really impacts me. I love being around all the Welcome Center Staff and members.
How have you changed since volunteering? It feels like my will to serve has grown even more during my time here.
What is one of your favorite Y memories? I like talking to all the people I know that come into the Y (teachers, friends and family friends).
What is your favorite activity at the Y? I would have to say the water aerobics class.
Charlie previously worked at the Hy-Vee Market Grille, but he recently started as a camp counselor at Outlaw Ranch in Custer, South Dakota on May 24. In the fall, Charlie will be going to Grandview to study Theology. In addition to volunteering, Charlie really enjoys cooking (especially baking cookies), church and spending time with his family. Thank you for all you do, Charlie!
